How it works

Continuous recovery,
start to finish.

Wastewater flows in from your processors, the silver stays behind, and clean water goes to drain. Recovery runs continuously, day and night.

99.99% silver

Silver stays in the columns.

Patented metallic-exchange media in the MixExchanger filters captures 99.99% of the silver. No chemicals are dosed at any point.

Clean water to drain.

Treated water leaves the unit ready for the drain, with nothing hazardous to haul away. Spent filters go for refining, and the recovered silver offsets your costs.

Capacity

Higher volume?
Same MBX-1000.

The standard set-up runs on two short columns. For high-volume operations, SuperPac 4 gives the MBX-1000 four larger columns and 1,000 gal (3,785 L) of capacity.

More capacity for higher volumes.

Four larger columns in one crate on an integrated skid, taking the MBX-1000 to 1,000 gal (3,785 L) of capacity.

FAQ

MBX-1000,
questions answered.

Need something more specific? Talk to our team or email sales@metafix.com.

What does the MBX-1000 do?

It recovers 99.99% of the silver from X-ray fixer and developer wastewater. Treatment is continuous and chemical-free, and the treated water is safe to drain.

Do we get paid for the recovered silver?

Yes. When the filters are full, they come back to Metafix for refining, and we pay you for the silver recovered.

How many film processors can one unit serve?

Up to 5 processors connect to a single MBX-1000.

What is the treatment rate?

0.26 gal/min (1 L/min), treated continuously.

When do the filters need changing?

Filter changes are planned from volumetric treatment data, not guesswork. With Metatrax, the system is monitored 24/7 and you get email alerts before a change is due.

Does it use chemicals or produce sludge?

No. The MBX-1000 uses Metafix’s patented MixExchanger metallic-exchange media: no chemicals are dosed and no hazardous sludge is produced.

Who uses the MBX-1000?

NDT radiography labs, aerospace inspection departments and investment casters that process X-ray film in house. For mobile crews and field labs, see the MBX-MI. Many customers also pair the MBX-1000 with a BCMS for better and more predictable results.

How much does the MBX-1000 cost?

Pricing is handled through our dealer network. Contact us and we’ll connect you with your local dealer for a quote.
