The challenge

Silver-rich wastewater.
Regulated and valuable.

Film processing in NDT radiography generates wastewater rich in silver, a regulated heavy metal and a valuable resource. The developer converts exposed silver halides into metallic silver while the fixer dissolves the unexposed crystals, leaving the used fixer saturated with dissolved silver.

Untreated, that waste is an environmental and regulatory risk. Metafix MBX units recover 99.99% of the silver from fixer and developer, keeping you compliant while turning waste into revenue.

How do NDT labs recover silver from fixer and developer?

With an MBX unit. The MBX-1000 serves fixed labs with up to 5 processors, and the MBX-MI treats from a holding tank for mobile crews. Both recover 99.99% of the silver.

Do we get paid for the recovered silver?

Yes. When the filters are full, they come back to Metafix for refining, and we pay you for the silver recovered.

Is the treated water safe to drain?

Yes. Treatment is chemical-free and produces no hazardous sludge, so hauling charges turn into silver value.

What about mobile inspection crews?

The MBX-MI draws from a 55-gal (208 L) or 250-gal (946 L) holding tank and fits a 24″ × 24″ footprint.

Can Metafix handle chemistry mixing too?

Yes. The BCMS mixes fixer and developer to FUJIFILM or AGFA spec and supplies up to 5 processors.

How is everything monitored?

Every system reports to Metatrax 24/7, with email alerts and activity reports.
