Silver recovery from X-ray fixer

Every X-ray film you process sends silver into the fixer. The MBX-1000 and MBX-MI recover 99.99% of it on site, and Metafix refines the silver and pays you out.

Silver recovery from X-ray fixer

Film-based X-ray inspection turns silver into wastewater: as each film is processed, silver ends up in the fixer and developer. Metafix silver recovery units capture 99.99% of it on site, with no chemicals and no toxic sludge. When the filters are full, they come back to Metafix for refining, and we pay you for the silver recovered.

Two ways to recover silver

  • Fixed labs: MBX-1000. Connects to up to 5 processors and treats 0.26 gal/min (1 L/min) continuously. Compact at 36″W × 36″D × 48″H. Filter changes are planned from volumetric data with our patented MixExchanger filters. Add a SuperPac 4 (1,000 gal) for more capacity.
  • Mobile and field labs: MBX-MI. Treats straight from a 250-gal or 55-gal holding tank at 0.26 gal/min (1 L/min), in a 24″W × 24″D × 38″H footprint.

Better together with the BCMS

Most of our customers run the BCMS alongside the MBX-1000. The BCMS mixes fixer and developer to FUJIFILM or AGFA spec in two 250-gal tanks and feeds up to 5 processors. Pairing the two gives better, more predictable results.

The payout

Recovered silver has value. Spent filters come back to Metafix for refining, and we pay you out for the silver recovered.

Monitored 24/7

Metatrax tracks the volume through each filter and emails your team before a change is due.

Who uses it

NDT radiography labs, aerospace inspection departments and investment casters that process X-ray film in house.

questions answered.

Need something more specific? Talk to our team or email sales@metafix.com.

How much silver does an MBX unit recover?

99.99% of the silver in X-ray fixer and developer wastewater.

Do we get paid for the recovered silver?

Yes. When the filters are full, they come back to Metafix for refining, and we pay you for the silver recovered.

How many processors can one MBX-1000 serve?

Up to 5 processors connect to a single MBX-1000.

We run a mobile lab. Which unit fits?

The MBX-MI. It treats straight from a 250-gal or 55-gal holding tank and fits a 24″W × 24″D × 38″H footprint.

Does silver recovery use chemicals or produce sludge?

No. Treatment is chemical-free and produces no toxic sludge.
